Life Time Miami Marathon sells out in record time

Demand for the 2027 Life Time Miami Marathon & Half presented by FP Movement reached a new milestone recently, selling out in a record 57 hours after registration opened on Aug. 1.
The race reached its capacity 12 days faster than the 2026 event, underscoring the continued momentum behind one of the world’s premier destination marathons as it prepares to celebrate its landmark 25th anniversary on Jan. 31, 2027.
Owned and produced by Life Time, the nation’s premier healthy lifestyle brand, the event has become a highly sought-after race at the beginning of the running season. A waitlist is now open through Sept. 30, with any available entries offered beginning Oct. 5 if registered participants defer or withdraw.
Registration remains open for the Life Time Tropical 5K, taking place Jan. 30, 2027. Beginning on Watson Island and finishing at the southern tip of South Beach, the race offers runners a scenic kickoff to Miami Marathon weekend. Waitlist and 5K registration are available at themiamimarathon.com.
The 2027 field includes runners from all 50 states and more than 80 countries, along with up to 51 Legacy Runners who have completed every edition of the event since its inception. Participants will experience the USATF-certified, Boston Marathon-qualifying course that winds through Downtown Miami, Miami Beach and Coconut Grove, showcasing the city’s vibrant neighborhoods, waterfront and skyline.
“When we launched this race 25 years ago, we envisioned Miami becoming one of the world’s premier running destinations — and today, that vision has become a reality,” said Frankie Ruiz, Miami Marathon co-founder and Life Time chief running officer. “The fact that the event now sells out so quickly each year reflects the incredible enthusiasm surrounding it, both within our local community and among runners who travel from around the world to be part of this experience.
The event is also part of Life Time’s growing ecosystem of premier athletic events, athletic country clubs, digital training and performance programming that supports athletes at every stage of their journey — from training for a first 5K to chasing personal bests and marathon finish lines. Together, these experiences help inspire healthy, active lives while connecting endurance athletes to a year-round community.
In addition to the marquee marathon and half marathon distances, and Saturday’s Tropical 5K, the weekend activities include:
• Miami Famous Expo, bringing together more than 36,000 runners, spectators and industry-leading vendors for product demos, experiential activations, and live entertainment at Mana Wynwood Convention Center on Jan. 29 and 30, 2027.
• Kids Run Miami, presented by the Life Time Foundation, where more than 1,200 Miami-Dade County students will complete the final mile of their 26.2-mile journey after participating in a 15-week youth running program designed to inspire healthy, active lifestyles.
