Lincoln Navigator has enough room for luxury and more

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Starting at just under $77,000, the 2021 Lincoln Navigator is one of my favorite vehicles so far this year.

Why? Because it is roomy like few SUVs I have been in. That means a lot because more and more of our time is being spent in cars. And this one seats seven or eight people comfortably.

The comfort is delivered not only in the luxury inside the cabin, but by the luxurious feel of the engine.

Let me explain. This beauty is capable of producing 450 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque with a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter engine.

But you won’t understand what I mean unless we get into the details, so let’s do it. The adaptive suspension controls the up-and-down movement of the wheels when driving on uneven surfaces and over potholes. The entire system helps to decrease the stress of harsh driving situations without compromising the comfort within.

With the twist of a dial, you can choose between slippery, excite, conserve, deep conditions and normal. And, if you are expecting to get the Lincoln Navigator into the mountains, there also is a sixth drive mode, called slow climb, which is available with the heavy-duty trailer tow package of the 4×4 models. So there is a lot to be excited about here.

The 10-speed transmission helps to balance comfort and power, allowing you to find your sweet spot and avoid the highs and lows of having less gears.

The connectivity in the Lincoln Navigator is another feature that got me excited because it creates a feeling of comfort and ease within the cabin. All models feature a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot that allows up to a whopping 10 devices to be connected at the same time and comes with a three-month/three-gigabyte trial. The embedded modem maximizes use of the Lincoln Way App, with the hotspot being accessible from as far away as 50 feet.

For the driver, the Lincoln Navigator is all about customization. The available head-up display creates a custom driving experience by letting drivers choose what data to display, from standard driving information to available adaptive cruise control settings, lane-keeping system information and more. The digital light projection technology makes it possible to display the information in different ambient lighting conditions.

The power of the engine makes it possible to haul up to 8,700 pounds. That means you can have a boat, a trailer for a motorcycle or a recreational vehicle in your future, if you want it.

Gas mileage is up to 16 mpg city/22 mpg highway.

Make sure you give the Lincoln Navigator the time it deserves. It is one of the highlights of the new crop of luxury SUVS on the market that blew my mind and it will do the same to you.
