Riverside Elementary School students celebrate the Chevron and Sunshine Gasoline donation.

Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) recently held a celebratory event at Riverside Elementary School in appreciation of Chevron and Sunshine Gasoline’s $50,000 donation to support STEM curriculum initiatives.

“We are beyond grateful to Chevron and Sunshine Gasoline for this opportunity to fund STEM projects and to provide teachers with the tools they need for their classrooms,” said Riverside Elementary School principal Veronica T. Recio. “These are areas that challenge our students to improve their creativity and their critical thinking skills through hands-on activities like the outdoor classroom and our robotics program, and that’s just the beginning.”

Recio, district representatives, representatives from Chevron and Sunshine Gasoline, as well as school staff and students, gathered for the event.

The funds will be used for supplies to bolster the school’s robotics classes, outdoor lessons, teacher projects, and other STEM-related costs to ensure that the school’s 670 students have every opportunity to bring their science and technology instruction to life through hands-on projects.

“Chevron is proud to partner with Sunshine Gasoline Distributors to invest in the future of STEM education and outdoor learning opportunities that inspire the next generation,” said Amy Brandenstein from Chevron Corporate Affairs.

Representatives from Chevron and Sunshine Gasoline attended the event and were very excited that they would have a part in helping students get the tools they need to further their STEM education.

“Sunshine Gasoline Distributors Inc. is honored to contribute to Riverside Elementary,” said Sunshine Gasoline owner Max Alvarez. “Supporting education is a vital part of strengthening our community, and we are committed to helping students succeed.”

This generous contribution reflects the district’s commitment to excellence and innovation, making M-DCPS your best choice for providing students with the tools and opportunities they need to thrive in a world driven by STEM education.
