Main Street Players are presenting the first production in their new theater — Rapture, Blister, Burn by Gina Gionfriddo.
In the play: After grad school, Catherine and Gwen chose polar opposite paths. Catherine built a career as a rock star academic, while Gwen built a home with her husband and children. Decades later, unfulfilled in polar opposite ways, each woman covets the other’s life, commencing in a dangerous game of musical chairs — the prize being Gwen’s husband. With searing insight and trademark wit, this comedy is an unflinching look at gender politics in the wake of 20th Century feminist ideals.
The show is directed by MSP vice president Danny Nieves and the cast is as follows: Amanda Ortega, Catherine; Laura Argo, Gwen; Juan Gamero, Don; Katlin Svadbik, Avery, and Lory Reyes, Alice.
Rapture, Blister, Burn runs through May 15. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., and Sundays at 2 p.m. Tickets are $30 for adults, $25 for students, seniors, (65-plus) and military personnel.
