For the past 20 years, the March of Dimes Miami has showcased and paid tribute to the culinary excellence of prominent chefs while raising money to improve the health of all moms and babies—and this year’s event is truly one to celebrate!
March of Dimes is proud to announce that they will present the inaugural Mission Impact Award to Dr. Jorge E. Perez and Dr. Albert R. Tano, renowned neonatologists and co-founders of KIDZ Medical Services, a leading pediatric specialty and women’s health practice in South Florida. The award will recognize their incredible and pioneering contributions to the health of moms and babies, making a lasting impact on the lives of countless families.
Dr. Perez is a respected and beloved physician leader and researcher who has been practicing medicine, teaching, and conducting clinical research for more than 30 years. His work has been instrumental in advancing care in NICUs throughout South Florida and establishing centers of excellence to elevate the care of women and children. Together with Dr. Tano, he founded KIDZ Medical Services in 1988. Dr. Perez has served on the Board of the March of Dimes Miami since 2021
Dr. Tano is a renowned and tireless force in pediatric medicine, teaching, and volunteering in the field of neonatology. As a physician, professor, and philanthropist, Dr. Tano has done extraordinary work with many partner hospitals to better the lives of moms and babies in our community. His devotion to the community also includes a passion for education. Dr. Tano currently serves on the Board of the Florida International University Board of Trustees, and the FIU Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine Dean’s Advisory Council.
This year’s Signature Chefs Feeding Motherhood event will be a special opportunity this year to bring our community together to support better maternal and infant health outcomes. Funds raised will support March of Dimes’ mission to fight to end the maternal health crisis and close the health equity gap.
March of Dimes is honored to recognize Dr. Jorge E. Perez and Dr. Albert R. Tano with the inaugural Mission Impact Award. Their tireless efforts to improve maternal and infant health over the last 30 years have made a significant difference in the lives of countless families,
The United States is facing an urgent maternal and infant health crisis and together we can help create change for all moms and babies to ensure every family gets the best possible start. Premature birth and its complications are the largest contributors to infant death in the U.S. and pregnancy-related death has more than doubled over the past 25 years. Through advocacy, research and community impact programs, March of Dimes is working to truly impact change to ultimately benefit thousands of moms, babies, and families every day.
The event will take place Thursday, October 17, 2024, at Briza on the Bay, 1717 N Bayshore Drive Miami, Florida, at 6:30 p.m.
Award-winning reporter, Trish Christakis from the CBS News Miami team will serve as the evening’s Mistress of Ceremonies.
