Miami resident Maricel Cobitz has been elected to serve as president of the Florida Federation of Republican Women (FFRW) for the 2022-23 term. The election took place at the State Federation’s Biennial Convention, Oct. 31, at the Naples Hilton Hotel in Naples.
Cobitz has served as president of the Federated Republican Women of North Dade since its founding in 2017. During her tenure, this local FFRW chapter received high accolades as a three-time winner of the National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW) Diamond Award, a recipient of the NFRW Membership Award in 2018, and as “Best Club in the State” by the FFRW in 2018.
In accepting the nomination to serve as FFRW president, Cobitz said, “Thank you for believing in me and entrusting me to lead our Federation for the next two years. And now it’s time for heels on the ground,” a reference to the organization’s signature red high-heel logo. “We are going to step up this campaign season so that people see us in the streets, at the polls, in our cars, trucks, and tractors – and boat parades.”
Noting that efforts are already underway within the FFRW to formulate an aggressive 2022-23 community-mobilization strategy, Cobitz added, “We will work to keep Florida ‘red’ by making sure we get the right candidates into all 67 counties — and with the help and hard work of our vast membership here in Florida we will succeed.”
A native of Havana, Cuba, and 50-year resident of South Florida currently living in Coconut Grove, Cobitz is a graduate of the University of Miami and presently serves as a paralegal, Realtor-associate, and small business owner. Shealso is a Miami-Dade County Republican Executive Committee (REC) Precinct Committeewoman and is an appointee to the National Federation of Republican Women Outreach Committee.
As a political not-for-profit, FFRW serves to foster loyalty to the principles of the Republican Party and to promote Republican principles and candidates in all elections including non-partisan elections, and supports the objectives and policies of the National Federation of Republican Women, the Republican National Committee, the Republican Party of Florida, and to work for the election of the Republican Party’s nominees at all levels of government.
