The Humane Society of Greater Miami proudly announces the unveiling of a commemorative logo in honor of its 90th anniversary in anticipation of its fifteen-month anniversary celebration. Founded in 1936 by George Pusey and his wife Margaret Pusey Anderson in their two-car garage, the organization has since become a pillar of compassion and hope for the animals and people of Miami-Dade County. Over the years, HSGM served as the county shelter, establishing itself as a leader in animal welfare, and today, as a private non-profit, it continues to champion a more compassionate Miami by providing lifesaving care, shelter, and second chances to thousands of pets in need.
For nine decades, the Humane Society of Greater Miami has been a trusted resource for animal welfare, strengthening the bond between people and pets through adoption, education, and affordable veterinary services. The new 90th anniversary logo celebrates this remarkable legacy while symbolizing the organization’s ongoing commitment to ensuring every pet has a loving, forever home.
“Reaching 90 years of service is an extraordinary milestone for our organization and our community,” said Jossie Aguirre, Executive Director of the Humane Society of Greater Miami. “This special anniversary logo represents the thousands of lives saved, the families brought together through adoption, and the countless acts of kindness that have shaped our history.”
The commemorative logo incorporates the Humane Society’s signature branding with a bold, celebratory design to mark the milestone year. It will appear throughout 2025 across marketing and communications materials, as well as at special anniversary events, including the organization’s signature fundraisers and community initiatives.
Looking toward its 100th anniversary, the Humane Society of Greater Miami remains steadfast in its mission: to serve as a safe haven for homeless pets and a leading advocate for animal welfare in South Florida.
