The Miami Marlins recently announced that they have partnered with Orangetheory Fitness to benefit the Marlins Foundation. For every Giancarlo Stanton home run at Marlins Park in 2015, Orangetheory Fitness will donate $200 to benefit Marlins RBI.
“The Miami Marlins welcome Orangetheory Fitness to the Marlins Foundation and appreciate their support of Marlins RBI,” said Alfredo Mesa, vice president and executive drirector of Marlins Foundation. “This partnership will highlight the talent of Giancarlo Stanton and support the kids who participate in the Marlins RBI program.”
Marlins RBI is a youth baseball and softball program designed to promote interest in baseball, academic achievement and social responsibility. The program provides a healthy outlet for children in underserved areas and stresses character development both on and off the field. In 2014, the Junior Division of Marlins RBI won the World Series and was presented championship rings by Stanton. These kids live in South Florida and are committed to the goals of RBI. This program is one of the signature examples of the Marlins’ commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility.
Stanton led the National League last season with 37 home runs, 24 of which came at home, slugging percentage (.555) and total bases (299). In the offseason, Stanton garnered a second-place finish in the National League Most Valuable Player balloting by the Baseball Writers Association of America. He was named the NL’s recipient of the Hank Aaron Award, given to the top offensive performer in each league, and won his first Silver Slugger Award. Additionally, Stanton was voted by his peers as the Players Choice Award winner as the NL’s Outstanding Player.
“Orangetheory Fitness is beyond thrilled to be working with the Marlins, the Marlins Foundation and Giancarlo Stanton for the 2015 season to help raise money for the Marlins RBI program,” said Scott Breault, director of marketing for Orangetheory Fitness. “We are a South Florida-based organization, so any opportunity we have to give back to the community around us is always a welcome opportunity. We are hoping that Giancarlo sets a new record for home runs at Marlins Park this season!”
