After more than two years in the making, the iconic Mayfair House Hotel & Garden in Coconut Grove is back and better than ever following an extensive transformation — complete with two new food and beverage concepts, Mayfair Grill and Sipsip, by local favorite Lost Boy & Co.
The hotel’s namesake Mayfair Grill restaurant, garden-café, and Fountain Bar serves cuisine inspired by the wood-fueled, open-fire flavors of the American Southwest, and is proud to launch an exciting and delicious Jazz Brunch every Sunday in the hotel’s iconic atrium.
What better way to send off the weekend than indulging in great food and lively music by the Michelle Fragoso Trio. The vibrant light, incredible architecture, and lush gardens will make you want to stay through dinner.
Mayfair Grill’s Sunday Jazz Brunch (from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.) features the restaurant’s twist on classic brunch staples such Blue Corn Silver Dollar Pancakes with Mezcal Maple Syrup, Eggs Divorciados, and Braised Beef Shank with Sweet Potato Hash and a Poached Egg. Other favorites include Eggs Benedicto, Smoked Salmon Toast with a Poached Egg, and the Sunflower Oat Granola. Classic brunch offerings and delicious fresh baked items also are available. Bottomless Mimosas and Rosé are available for $35 per person.
Mayfair Grill’s menus highlight local produce and expertly grilled dishes with flavors rooted in the Sonoran Desert from Arizona, Southern California, and New Mexico. Embracing an understanding of one of Mayfair House Hotel & Garden’s fundamental architectural inspirations, Frank Lloyd Wright’s influence throughout the Southwest of America is subtly weaved into a culinary and dining experience that spans breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner.
A wood-fired kitchen, visible to the guest, creates a theatrical element while forming a unique link between the elegant grounds of the interior garden and the outside neighborhood, with the ability to seat guests from the atrium to the sidewalk.
The food menu is expansive, with dishes for all palette preferences including Fire-Roasted Squash, Aguachile, Wood-Oven Cheese, Braised Lamb Shank, and Navajo Breads. The bar pairs rich, diverse wines and agave-based spirits from Guadalajara and Oaxaca such as mezcal, tequila, sotol, and raicilla.
Lunch is offered at Mayfair Grill every day from noon to 3 p.m. and features a variety of options including Carnitas Tacos, Heirloom Tomato Tostadas, and Shrimp & Watermelon Aguachile. The lunch program is perfect for a delicious meal between meetings, or a casual get together with old friends. Guests also can enjoy Happy Hour at Mayfair Grill, weekdays from 4 to 7 p.m., and indulge in $10 Margarita and Paloma specials, and delicious bites such as Baja-Style Fish Tacos and Mushroom Navajo Bread.
The hotel’s second new dining concept, celebrating Coconut Grove’s Caribbean ancestry, Sipsip (named for the Bahamian word for “gossip” or “sharing news”) is a Calypso-style rooftop pool bar with island inspired cocktails, an extensive rum program, a Caribbean menu, and live music. The Calypso pool rum bar pays homage to the colorful, dynamic, and lively ethos of the Caribbean, featuring beach favorites such as daiquiris, punches, and piña coladas. The cocktails are vibrant and picturesque with bright flavors and signature drinks including the Goombay Smash, Mai Tai, Large Format, and Rum Punch.
Sipsip’s food menu is a reimagination of the fried fish joints popular throughout South Florida, enhanced with an ingredient-forward offering. Florida Keys and Atlantic seaboard-style dishes, such as Conch Ceviche, Rock Lobster Roll, Fried Oyster Sliders, and Smoked Fish Dip, join the Bahamian standards. Tunes from Harry Belafonte and Jimmy Cliff echo through the air. The setting is modern but classic, a feeling straight out of an iconic Slim Aarons photograph.
Mayfair House Hotel & Garden, Mayfair Grill, and Sipsip are located at 3000 Florida Ave., Miami, FL 33133.
