Mayor Levine Cava leads annual Bike305 Bike to Work Day Ride
Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava gets ready to ride.

Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava began the 10th annual Bike305 Bike to Work Day event, hosted by Miami Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces, on Mpnday, Mar. 6.

This annual event demonstrates how easy it is for residents to ride their bicycles to work, school, and exciting destinations as a fun and healthy alternative to getting around Miami-Dade while avoiding traffic.

The ceremony commenced at Haulover Park with remarks by Mayor Levine Cava and Miami-Dade County Parks director Maria I. Nardi, and a presentation of the Bike305 Municipality of the Year Award to the City of Aventura. Aventura was recognized for its outstanding efforts in promoting cycling and cycling-safety to residents and school children throughout the year.

“Miami-Dade’s Bike to Work Day has become a county tradition and I was very proud to join it once again to model how we can drive less and live more,” said Mayor Levine Cava.

“This initiative gives us a great opportunity to get outdoors and connect with nature via our community’s scenic bike paths, while also reducing traffic and increasing alternatives that improve mobility for our residents going to work or to school.”

Elected officials from 34 municipalities, along with transportation executives and residents from across the county, joined Mayor Levine Cava and director Nardi for a six-mile police-escorted bike ride to Founders Park in Aventura, crossing the Intercoastal waterway for a scenic route to the final destination.

Free Bike305 performance shirts, bicycle helmets, and refreshments were distributed to cyclists who arrived before the ride.

The event was sponsored by AvMed and Mack Cycle & Fitness, longtime sponsors of Bike305 and Bike to Work Day.
