Miami Dade College (MDC) students representing InterAmerican and Wolfson Campuses have been named as 2017 Coca-Cola College Academic Team Scholars.
The MDC 2017 Coca-Cola College Academic Team Scholars are: Alexa Jauregui, InterAmerican Campus, Bronze Scholar, and Jenifer Rodriguez, Wolfson Campus, Bronze Scholar.
The students were selected based on scores earned in the All-USA College Academic Team competition, for which nearly 2,000 applications were received this year. In fact, MDC students regularly have been recognized with this award throughout the years.
The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation sponsors the Coca-Cola College Academic Team program by recognizing 50 Gold, 50 Silver, 50 Bronze Scholars, and providing nearly $200,000 in scholarships annually. Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society administers the Coca-Cola College Academic Team Program and recognizes Coca-Cola College scholars during All-State College Academic Team Recognition ceremonies held in 38 states. Student scholars also receive recognition internationally at Phi Theta Kappa’s Annual Convention.
Phi Theta Kappa, headquartered in Jackson, MS, is the largest honor society in higher education with 1,285 chapters on college campuses in all 50 of the United States, U.S. territorial possessions and eight sovereign nations. More than 3 million students have been inducted since its founding in 1918, with approximately 134,000 students inducted annually.
