MDC Television wins Gold Davey Award for online film and video

Miami Dade College (MDC) Television was honored recently by The Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts (AIVA) with a 2018 Gold Davey Award in the online film and video-public service and activism category for its Black History video promotion.

The team on the award-winning MDC-TV video includes Tony Leal, producer and writer; Maikel Garcia, editor, and Professor Simeon Richardson for voiceover.

The AIVA is a membership-based organization of leading professionals from various disciplines of the visual arts dedicated to embracing progress and the evolving nature of traditional and interactive media.

The Davey Awards are the largest and most prestigious awards competition exclusively for the “Davids” of creativity. David defeated the giant Goliath with a big idea and a little rock. The annual International Davey Awards honors the achievements of the “Creative Davids” who derive their strength from big ideas, rather than stratospheric budgets.

Prominent organizations that also competed to receive the acclaimed honor included AP News, Microsoft, National Geographic, República, and Newsy.
