The WeAre Foundation, in partnership with HeadCount, Hamilton the Musical, and the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County will conduct the second of two voter registration events to be held on the Arsht Center’s Thompson Plaza before the Hamilton matinee on Saturday, Mar. 7. The event is free and open to all.
From 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., representatives from HeadCount and the WeAre Foundation will be available to answer questions about local voter registration requirements and assist those eligible in completing on-the-spot voter registration. Members of the Hamilton company along with WeAre co-founder, theater and television star Brandon Victor Dixon (Aaron Burr in Hamilton on Broadway, Judas in NBC’s Jesus Christ Superstar Live, Terry Silver in Power on Starz) will be available to meet and greet the public between 11a.m. And 12:30 p.m. Visitors can also enter for a chance to win a pair of tickets to an upcoming performance of Hamilton in Miami.
“The growing divisions in our politics and social interactions inspired us to build an ecosystem of citizens and organizations that can remind us all that the more we fight for each other, the less we have to fight for ourselves,” said Brandon Victor Dixon, co-founder of WeAre.
“In 2020 we will demonstrate the connective power of the arts to help communities realize the power of their voice and collective vote,” he added.
“HeadCount is thrilled to partner with the WeAre Foundation in 2020,” said Tappan Vickrey, HeadCount director of Voter Engagement. “This partnership epitomizes our mission, bringing artists, volunteers, and communities together in the pursuit of positive social change. Together, we will reach thousands of voters and get-out-the-vote in 2020.”
