The Miami-Dade County’s Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) has announced improvements to Metrorail service. Beginning Sunday, Oct. 31, Orange Line once again will operate between the Dadeland South and Miami International Airport stations.
“We are committed to providing frequent, reliable public transportation options to all Miami-Dade residents and visitors,” said Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava.
“Restoring full Orange Line service will allow us to better serve riders as more people are coming back to public transportation, expanding and improving mobility for South Dade residents as well as for employees and visitors traveling to and from the airport.”
Orange Line trains will depart the Dadeland South and Miami International Airport stations every 10 minutes weekdays during peak hours and 15 minutes during non-peak hours. Green Line trains will continue to operate every 10-minutes during peak and every 15-minutes off-peak on weekdays.
Weekday frequency for both Metrorail lines after 8:30 p.m. will be every 30 minutes. All trains will operate every 30 minutes all day on Saturdays and Sundays.
Passengers heading to the airport from the Palmetto station, transfer at Earlington Heights to connect with the Orange Line train.
In accordance with federal mandate, transit riders are reminded that face masks remain a requirement on all Miami-Dade Transit vehicles and at all transit facilities, including at bus stops and on station platforms.
DTPW will continue to follow the latest COVID-19 guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Florida Department of Health (FDOH), the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Transit Administration (FTA), and Miami-Dade County to ensure the actions being taken are comprehensive and appropriate.
