Miami Christian School once again began collecting money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Pennies for Patients program during February.
Competition always is great as the elementary, middle and high school classes battle for the most money raised in what they call the “Penny Wars.” The class with the most points in each of the corresponding school grades will win a pizza or doughnut party (depending on the grade).
You can bet there are more than just pennies being collected and all for a great cause. Since paper money counts as negative points, classes start filling other classes jars with cash to get the edge. This results in lots of fun and lots of money being raised for the charity.
This is one of the many ways MCS students are encouraged to help others.
