Miami Dade College (MDC) and Junior Achievement of Greater Miami (JA Miami) will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish a new partnership that provides innovative learning opportunities for students interested in teaching careers. The agreement aims to integrate Junior Achievement’s curriculum in financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and career readiness into MDC’s Teaching Academies Dual Enrollment Program, strengthening the pipeline of future teachers across Miami-Dade County. An MOU signing ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 30, at MDC Padrón Campus. Working media is welcome.
“This innovative partnerships with Junior Achievement reflects our steadfast commitment to addressing the local teacher shortage,” said Miami Dade College President Madeline Pumariega. “MDC is leading the way in preparing the next generation of educators, empowering students to reach their full potential, while helping to build a stronger workforce and support the growth of our economy.”
The Teaching Academies Dual Enrollment Program is a partnership between MDC’s School of Education and Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) and provides educational experiences and knowledge to high school students interested in teaching careers. The MOU will allow Teaching Academy students to engage in hands-on clinical experiences in JA Miami’s partner classrooms, teaching financial literacy to K-5 public school students. Students will gain critical classroom experience while delivering meaningful instruction to young learners across the district.
