The Miami-Dade County Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual, Plus (LGBTQIA+) Advisory Board recently elected its chair and vice chair to serve a one-year term that will end November 2024.
Chair Ariel Trueba is a passionate community advocate with a strong background in governmental affairs and public service. He serves as the CEO and founder of Trueba Consulting while also assisting with community outreach efforts at Urban Health Partnerships.
Trueba was born and raised in the Little Havana neighborhood and is a proud graduate of Florida State University where he earned his Bachelor of Science in political science and business management with an emergency management certificate. He is a graduate of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Miami program and a member of the American Association of Political Consultants.
Vice Chair Darrell Burks brings decades of leadership experience and a passion for community service to this new role. Originally from Kentucky, Burks built an accomplished career in business management and entrepreneurship before relocating to Miami more than 25 years ago.
As a top-producing real estate agent and managing broker with Coldwell Banker Realty, Burks has an intimate understanding of the local community. He also is a member of the National Association of Realtors, Florida Realtors, National Association of Real Estate Brokers, and the Miami Association of Realtors.
