Miami-Dade County Public Schools recently hosted a “Troops to Education – Veterans & Spouses Career Expo” at Coral Gables Senior High School to showcase the variety of career options and opportunities available within the district.
Some 200 attendees and 15 exhibitors attended the event, which provided resources to support the veterans’ transition into jobs across all areas of the education workforce.
Eight breakout sessions were conducted on such topics as career opportunities at the management, administrative, trades, non-instructional, and police levels; applying for teacher certification; mentoring and a resume-writing workshop.
Miami-Dade Schools Police Chief Ian Moffett was the keynote speaker.
