Miami-Dade County Tax Collector Dariel Fernández announced a continued partnership with Clerk of the Court and Comptroller Juan Fernández-Barquin to expand access to driver license services during Operation Green Light, a bi-annual initiative that helps residents resolve outstanding court obligations and restore their driving privileges.

Operation Green Light allows residents to pay overdue court fines or fees without additional collection costs, helping them save money and, in many cases, reinstate suspended driver licenses. The program provides a pathway for residents to get back on the road legally and safely while supporting employment, family responsibilities, and overall quality of life.

During this year’s Operation Green Light, the Tax Collector’s Office is teaming up with the Clerk’s Office to bring mobile driver license services directly to the people. Through this partnership, residents can take care of multiple needs in one visit, resolving fines with the Clerk’s Office and renewing or reinstating their driver licenses through the Tax Collector’s team.

“This partnership helps residents take care of many things in one visit, paying court fines with the Clerk’s Office and renewing or reinstating their driver license with our team,” said Tax Collector Dariel Fernández. “It’s an easy and convenient way to help people get back on the road safely and legally. This helps people get back on their feet and back to work.”

To make it even easier, the Tax Collector’s Office will waive the $6.25 service fee normally charged for driver license transactions during Operation Green Light. This means residents can save even more money while getting back on the road safely and legally. In addition to the mobile units, the Tax Collector’s Office also operates two permanent driver license service centers located at the North Dade Justice Center and the Gerstein Courthouse, offering year-round access for residents across the county.

“This partnership shows how government can work better when we work together,” added Fernández. “I want to thank Clerk Fernández-Barquin and his entire team for their continued support and teamwork. Together, we are making government more helpful, more efficient, and easier for everyone in Miami-Dade County.”
