The Miami-Dade Department of Solid Waste Management (DSWM) will celebrate America Recycles Day with a series of free, family-friendly events and outreach activities throughout November. The goals are to raise awareness of the importance of recycling, help residents “Recycle Right,” reduce contamination, and keep our community clean and green while having fun!
This year marks the first time DSWM is expanding its celebration of America Recycles Day beyond a single event, transforming it into a series of activities designed to reach more residents, engage families in multiple communities, and strengthen the County’s recycling education efforts.
“This expanded celebration of America Recycles Day reflects our commitment to making recycling a part of everyday life in Miami-Dade,” said Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. “By bringing these events into neighborhoods across the County, we’re helping families recycle right and inspiring residents to take small actions that create big environmental change — advancing our Zero Waste goals, protecting our environment, and building a cleaner, healthier future for everyone.”
Through this expanded approach, DSWM is broadening its outreach and using more innovative, interactive experiences to encourage proper recycling habits and support Miami-Dade County’s Zero Waste goals.
“Our team is focused on practical education, creative outreach methods, and convenient services,” said DSWM Director Aneisha Daniel, PhD. “By empowering our community with the knowledge and tools they need, we’re also driving countywide waste diversion efforts and building strategic sustainable solutions that help create a greener, more resilient Miami-Dade.”
