The Miami Film Festival celebrating its 40th year, will present the
world premiere of Awake Before Dawn by award-winning FlickHouse Studios, Jose Navas, director.
The premiere will take place at Silverspot Cinemas on Friday, Mar. 10, at 6:45 p.m. The film will be featured during the festival’s short program called Tears in the Ocean (Drama Shorts).
Awake Before Dawn follows the story of a single, immigrant mother struggling to make ends meet. As she and her two sons work at the Opa-locka Flea Market, this film highlights their financial hardships and the significant role the market played in their lives.
With entrepreneurship, strength, and tenacity, the family comes together, shedding light on the true meaning of love and sacrifice. After 50 years of serving the public and providing jobs for immigrant communities, the Opa-locka Flea Market recently closed, and this film represents their story.
Tickets are on sale and can be bought online at www.squadup.com/events/drama-shorts—silverspot-16.
The Miami Film Festival runs Mar. 3-12.
