On September 10, 2025, at 10:00 AM, Miami Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired will host an important event aimed at empowering its blind and visually impaired program participants. In collaboration with the Miami-Dade Supervisor of Elections and the Miami-Dade County Tax Collector’s Office, the event will provide on-site voter registration and Florida state ID services to individuals who are blind or visually impaired.

This initiative underscores a shared commitment to accessibility and civic engagement. Miami-Dade Supervisor of Elections Alina Garcia emphasized the importance of inclusive participation, stating, “We are proud to support accessible, secure, and convenient elections for all especially for our important voters and prospective voters who are blind and visually impaired. Your vote is always your voice.”

Miami-Dade County Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez highlighted the significance of accessible identification services, stating, “Providing IDs is more than a document—it’s a gateway to independence and essential services for the blind. Everyone deserves the autonomy that an ID affords.”

Virginia Jacko, President and CEO of Miami Lighthouse stated, “We are extremely thankful to the Miami-Dade Supervisor of Elections, Alina Garcia, and Tax Collector, Dariel Fernandez, for collaborating with Miami Lighthouse on this critical event helping our program participants remain independent and fully engaged citizens.”

The event will take place at Miami Lighthouse for the Blind, located at 601 SW 8th Avenue, Miami, FL. Mega TV is the exclusive Spanish language media for this event.
