Calling all Zombie wannabes. Midtown Miami is preparing for a Zombie takeover on Saturday, Oct. 18, at 7 p.m. You are invited to dress in your goriest Zombie or Zombie Hunter gear and head to Midtown Miami for the third annual South Florida Zombie Crawl.

Starting at 7 p.m., Zombies and Zombie Hunters alike will stumble along the path around the Fountain Plaza, sampling food and drinks from Midtown’s Zombie-friendly restaurants including: World of Beer, Vintage Liquor & Wine Bar, Hurricane Grill & Wings, Baru Urbano, Daily Melt, Wine Vault, Giraffas, Pinkberry, Subway and more. Walkers also will have the chance to taste Redd’s Apple Ale, along with a variety of beverages provided by Coors Light, and snacks from Food Should Taste Good.

Undead partiers then can take part in gory games and activities in the Invasion Zone. Play Z’s Dead Apple Hole Game, which is similar to corn hole, in which participants can try their rotting hands at a bean bag toss for prizes. The Lame Brain Guessing Table was one of last year’s most popular activities and tests the cadaver’s sense of touch while reaching into boxes full of Zombie parts and guessing what’s inside.

In a twist on bobbing for apples, Zombies will get the chance to test their biting skills with the Dangling Apple Game. After having their hands tied behind their backs, biters will try to grab a dangling apple with their teeth.

The band Breeze will kick things off at 7 p.m. Then, to keep the party going, DJ Zog will be mixing tunes for Crawlers until 11 p.m. At around 9:35, party goers are in for a creepy treat as a group of dancing Zombies will surprise the crowd with a flash mob style performance.

This year’s newest addition to the festivities is a Zombie Fashion Show, taking place at 9 p.m. on the main stage. Single entries will be broken into male and female divisions and a group division also will be judged. One male and one female winner selected as best-dressed will win a prize valued at $250 including a gift certificate package to Midtown’s restaurants and a Redd’s Apple Ale gift basket Each member of the group division winner will receive a $50 gift certificate to Midtown’s restaurants and a Redd’s Apple Ale gift basket.

This year’s event, the third installment of the original South Florida Zombie Crawl, is turning out to be even bigger and better than last year’s thanks to support from the sponsors. The Shops at Midtown Miami has provided the venue, plus setup considerations and event support. Redd’s Apple Ale and Food Should Taste Good snacks will keep brain cravings at bay during the event. Numerous restaurants from Midtown will keep hungry walkers satisfied with samples of food and drinks, while live music from Breeze and DJ Zog will keep the reanimated toes dancing all night long.
