The Miami Symphony Orchestra (MISO), under the direction of maestro Eduardo Marturet, closed a majestic 2021-22 season, being proclaimed the Official Symphony Orchestra of the City of Miami by Mayor Francis Suarez.
With a one-of-a kind concert, sponsored by the Business Improvement District (BID), Coconut Grove Chamber of Commerce, and the Miami City Commission and Mayor’s Office, more than 4,000 people gathered for free in Coconut Grove’s Peacock Park to celebrate the 4th of July, surrounded by music and nature with an incredible drone show that closed the spectacular celebration.
The show, which began at 7:30 p.m., had the special participation of Mayor Suarez. He attended with his family and proclaimed the MISO as the Official Symphony Orchestra of the City of Miami.
The mayor said, “As a Miamian, I am proud of the wide cultural offer of our city and the Miami Symphony Orchestra is a fundamental part of the local culture.”
He also expressed his deep gratitude for the chance to conduct the National Anthem during the celebration of July 4th after rehearsing with the orchestra.
Eduardo Marturet responded, “Mr. Mayor, what an honor to be the official Symphony Orchestra of the City of Miami. It could not be better. Since the 34 years the symphony exists, this is the greatest moment. In the name of our chairman Rafael Diaz-Balart, the board of directors, advisory board, staff and members of the symphony, I thank you, your staff and commissioners, for this fantastic honor.”
