The Moss Foundation recently donated $117,000 worth of school supplies to 14 Title I schools in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties.
The school supplies were purchased with generous contributions from Moss Construction employees and business partners.
Miami-Dade County schools were Kinloch Elementary, Santa Clara Elementary, and Phyllis Wheatley Elementary.
The Foundation donated a wide variety of materials to fit K-8 student needs, including uniforms, socks, undergarments, shoes, backpacks, paper, spiral notebooks, composition notebooks, loose-leaf paper, pens, pencils, binders, hand sanitizer, scissors, crayons, markers, glue sticks and headphones, among other materials. The total amount raised to purchase the materials is more than double the highest amount raised in the 17 years this Back-to-School Drive has taken place.
“The Moss Foundation strives to give back to the community. By providing school supplies to students in the tri-county region, we hope to alleviate any additional stress and burden that families may be facing in making sure that students are set up for academic success,” said Chad Moss, president of the Moss Foundation.
For 17 years, this drive has been championed by Lenette Delahoz, an employee of Moss.
“Nothing beats the satisfaction of knowing that you are providing so many students with the materials they need to have a successful school year. This is not only for the kids, but also for their families,” said Delahoz, who leads a team of more than 30 volunteers tasked with shopping, sorting, packing, and delivering the school supplies to participating schools.
