    National Association of Black Journalists South Florida and National Association of Hispanic Journalists to Host Annual Career Fair at FIU Biscayne Bay Campus

      Students and Professionals: Explore Careers, Internships, and Networking Opportunities in Media

      The National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) South Florida Chapter, in partnership with the National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ) South Florida Chapter, will host its 10th Annual CareerFair on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Florida International University Biscayne Bay Campus(3000 NE 151st St, North Miami, FL 33181) from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

      This event brings together students, graduates, and professionals aiming to start or advance media careers. Attendees have the opportunity to connect with hiring managers, recruiters, and industry leaders from top local media outlets.

      Participants are encouraged to bring resumes, reels, portfolios, and clips to showcase their work and connect with potential employers. The careerfair will also feature a series of interactive workshops and panel discussions designed to provide insights into the evolving media industry.

      Organizers emphasized that the career fair offers opportunities for people at all stages of their journey to explore careers in journalism and communications. From internships to full-time roles, the event provides direct access to industry leaders.

      Workshops and sessions will include:

      • Discussion with News Managers
      • Careers beyond hard news
      • NAHJ  South Florida Spanish Language Panel focused on migration

      Confirmed participating media outlets include WSVN/Channel 7, El Nuevo Herald, Miami Herald, CBS Miami, NBC6, WPLG Local 10, with more organizations expected to join.

      Chelsea Jones, President of NABJ South Florida, said, “NABJ South Florida is committed to opening doors and expanding access within the media industry. Through initiatives like our annual career fair, we connect talented individuals with opportunities and help build a pipeline of diverse voices who will inform, challenge, and shape the future of journalism.”

      Juan Diasgranados, NABJ South Florida Member and Career Fair Coordinator, said, “Our careerfair provides a lively platform for emerging and aspiring journalists who are passionate about media and broadcasting to connect directly with industry leaders. Whether you are a recent graduate, an experienced professional, or looking to shift to a new career, this event offers valuable opportunities for networking, learning, and professional growth.”

      The event will also feature notable panelists and moderators, including:

      • Neida Sandoval, former Univision news anchor and independent journalist.
      • Juri Cordero, Executive Producer of Primer Impacto (Univision)
      • Damià Bonmatí, TV anchor and correspondent for Telemundo

      Representatives from Florida International University’s Master’s in Journalism programwill also be there to share information about advanced education opportunities.
