Newgard Development Group, the developer behind some of the most notable real estate projects in Miami over the past decade, is doing more than building condos — it is helping build the community through charitable giving.
Harvey Hernandez, Newgard’s chair and managing director, has pledged $100 to United Way of Miami-Dade for each residence sold at the firm’s 374-unit BrickellHouse condominium in downtown Miami.
Following its completion in late 2014, the 46-story, sold-out tower was one of the first newly constructed residential buildings in Miami to open its doors this real estate cycle.
This pledge establishes a new partnership between Newgard and United Way. United Way will receive almost $40,000 from the development company, and many new residents will learn about the organization and its work to make Miami a better place for all.
“I have seen first-hand the positive impact United Way’s work is having on the City of Miami and am honored to support its vision,” Hernandez said. “As Miamibased developers, we have a stake in creating a healthy and prosperous community and want to do our part in fostering a good life, quality education and stable jobs in Miami.”
United Way will use the donation to continue supporting 118 quality programs at 56 local nonprofit agencies that focus on improving the education, financial stability and health of Miami-Dade residents. Funds also will support the United Way Center for Excellence in Early Education, a learning, teaching and training initiative dedicated to elevating the quality of early care and education, and the United Way Center for Financial Stability, a center that works with numerous partners to provide access to comprehensive financial stability services — from financial coaching and credit counseling to free tax preparation, employment assistance and more.
“Harvey and his team at Newgard have built an amazing development at BrickellHouse, and are now showing their commitment to building a stronger community throughout the entire county,” said Harve A. Mogul, president and CEO, United Way of Miami-Dade. “We are honored they chose our organization to help better the lives of local families, and look forward to working with them for years to come.”
Located at 1300 Brickell Bay Dr. in Miami’s Brickell Financial District, BrickellHouse condos range in size from studios and 1-, 2-, 3-bedroom units, to 7,000-square-foot penthouses. The $190 million luxury development features expansive bay, ocean and skyline views as well as cutting-edge amenities including a 46th floor rooftop pool deck, health spa/fitness center, and a fully-automated robotic parking garage system.
