Nicklaus Children’s President and CEO, Matthew A. Love, along with the Project ADAM team have been awarded with the 2025 Superintendent’s Choice Award by Miami-Dade County Public Schools. The distinction is in recognition of Nicklaus Children’s Project ADAM Heart Safe program, where all Miami-Dade County Public Schools were trained on how to respond to cardiac events, the completion of over 70,000 student EKGs, and the expanded school-based telehealth services. Since its inception, nine lives have been saved in Miami-Dade and Broward counties by school employees trained by the Nicklaus Children’s Heart Institute’s Project ADAM team.
Nicklaus Children’s Heart Institute is one of only two affiliates of Project ADAM in Florida. Project ADAM is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving our community through educational programs that help prevent deaths associated with sudden cardiac arrest. In its role as the Project ADAM South Florida affiliate, Nicklaus Children’s is committed to helping implement life-saving training and education programs at schools as well as community organizations. In addition to 100 percent of MDCPS schools becoming heart safe, an additional 40 charter schools have received training throughout Miami-Dade and Broward County.
