Nielson has been actively involved in Miami Lighthouse for the past 34 years and has served in various leadership positions, including a previous term as board chair. He and his wife, Olga, are members of Miami Lighthouse’s Presidents Club and its Elite Lighthouse Keepers.

Nielsen is chair of the Nielson Hoover Group, a nationwide leader in surety bonds, construction bonds and commercial bonds. A resident of Miami, he has been involved actively at Florida International University (FIU) for nearly 30 years, with eight of those years as an adjunct professor.

Nielsen is involved actively in other South Florida charities, including the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County. He has received a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Miami and the Surety Industry’s Associate in Fidelity and Surety Bonding designation.

Sisser previously served Miami Lighthouse as vice president for External Relations. A resident of Coconut Grove, Sisser will continue to develop a comprehensive fundraising, marketing, communications and public relations program that will enhance Miami Lighthouse’s image and brand. He will oversee operations of Miami Lighthouse’s subsidiary, the Florida Heiken Children’s Vision Program LLC, a program that ensures all financially disadvantaged children throughout Florida who fail their school vision screenings have access to a comprehensive eye examination and prescription glasses at no cost to the child.

A graduate of The George Washington University with a bachelor’s degree, Sisser holds a master’s degree in public administration from Florida International University and a Certificate in Fund Raising Management from the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy.

Miami Lighthouse annually transforms the lives of 90,000 blind and visually impaired people, babies to seniors, and their families. The impact of the services and programs is statewide, national, and international. Miami Lighthouse and its Lighthouse Learning Center for Children are located at 601 SW Eighth Ave. in Miami.
