Ninth annual Superintendent’s 5K Challenge to support M-DCPS Schools scheduled Mar. 2

Miami-Dade County Public Schools employees, students, parents and interested community members are invited to participate in Miami-Dade County Pubic Schools ninth annual Superintendent’s 5K Challenge – A Race for Education on Saturday, Mar. 2. Activities are from 6 a.m. until noon. Race dtarts at 7:30 a.m. at Dan Paul Plaza (behind the former Miami Arena), 400 NE Eighth St.

The Foundation for New Education Initiatives (FNEI) is hosting the annual Race for Education to benefit local public schools. The run/walk promotes health and wellness in our community. FNEI will donate a percentage of the race proceeds to participating schools based on the number of participants each school team registers.

The 5-kilometer (3.1 miles) course starts and finishes at the Dan Paul Plaza behind the former Miami Arena. The route heads eastbound on the MacArthur Causeway, then loops around onto Watson Island before heading back.

Adults may register as a runner/walker. Students have three options from which to choose: 5K, One Mile Run, and the Kid’s Dash for children ages 2-9. Participants can register as an individual or join an existing team.
