Yesterday, January 26 at 12:00 noon, North Bay Village launched its partnership with Ecopod as city leaders distributed free containers for laundry detergent, all purpose cleaner, fabric softener, and dish soap. City leaders cut the ribbon on Ecopod’s first municipal fill station in the country right outside of Village Hall.
Ecopod offers an environmentally friendly way to save plastic and money by refilling containers with household cleaning supplies. North Bay Village residents can receive free refillable containers at village hall and access the refill station 24 hours a day.
North Bay Village Staff and the Sustainability and Resilience Task Force led the effort to bring Ecopod to the community.
Commissioner Rachel Streitfeld issued the following statement:
“I am incredibly proud that North Bay Village is a committed steward of Biscayne Bay. This first of its kind partnership with Ecopod is another example of our leadership on reducing single-use plastics, which end up in our waterways and threaten helpless marine life. Through our collaboration with Ecopod, we will offer our residents the chance to save money and ensure the viability of Biscayne Bay for generations to come.”
Statement from Matt Gagne, President of Ecopod:
“We applaud North Bay Village for this historic step in offering a refill solution for residents to refill their home care products into reusable containers and eliminate plastic waste in the process, We can all make a difference by reducing reliance on plastic in our everyday lives. Our marine life depends on it.”
