Ocean Bank and The Education Fund recently announced a four-year extension of its partnership in support of the Ocean Bank Center for Educational Materials, which has provided millions of dollars in free school supplies to Miami-Dade County school teachers for 33 years and impacted more than four million students.
“Ocean Bank took the lead in providing materials for schoolteachers following the devastation of Hurricane Andrew in 1992 and has continued its commitment unabated ever since,” said Linda Lecht, president of The Education Fund. “Thanks to Ocean Bank’s lead, which spurred gifts from companies throughout the county, The Education Fund has been able to provide $28 million in free supplies through the Ocean Bank Center for Educational Materials.”
To date, teachers have accessed free materials 52,697 times.
“Education is a major focus of our philanthropic efforts, and the Ocean Bank Center for Educational Materials has allowed us to have a positive impact on millions of students over more than three decades,” said Agostinho Alfonso Macedo, president, chair and CEO of Ocean Bank.
“In addition to the millions of dollars we’ve already contributed to The Education Fund, we are happy to announce an increase to $125,000 per year and to extend our commitment for four years.
“I also want to thank the many Ocean Bank executives who have donated their time and talent serving as board members and volunteers at The Education Fund.”
