Paolo Banchero led with 17 points, Cole Anthony scored 14 and Caleb Houstan, who finished with 11 points, hit a pair of clutch 3-pointers late in the Orlando Magic’s 114-108 preseason victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday night.
Terrence Ross, the oldest player on the Magic at age 31, said during training camp that he expects the team’s ball movement to be much better this year than last. Throughout the preseason, but especially in the two played at Amway Center, there were several examples of the Magic sharing the rock until the best shot became available, including the one shown below that ended with Ross knocking down the triple from the right wing.

The Magic tip off their regular season on Wednesday, Oct. 19 at 7 p.m. on the road against the Detroit Pistons. Like the Magic, the Pistons are in the process of developing an identity around their young core, including 2021 No.1 overall NBA draft pick Cade Cunningham and the electric Jaden Ivey, chosen fifth overall in the draft this past June. A surprise move they made shortly before the start of training camp was acquiring veteran forward Bojan Bogdanovic from the Jazz. The 33-year-old brings 3-point shooting, toughness, and a high basketball IQ to a team that ranked 28th in offense and 24th in defense last season.
