As inflation and a potential economic recession continue to cause concern, finances are top of mind for many families across the country.
However, recent data shows just 57 percent of U.S. adults are financially literate, 63 percent of Americans live paycheck to paycheck, and 60 percent of millennials who make more than $100,000 a year also live paycheck to paycheck.
That is why the Pareja Family Foundation, together with Miami Dade College, is offering a free, online course focused on the main principles of financial literacy. The course is open to all ages and enrollment in Miami Dade College is not required.
“We often hear millennials and Gen Z say they struggle with ‘adulting,’ but building wealth and having financial stability are vital life skills for everyone, especially young people, and minorities,” said Ariana Pareja, president and cofounder of the Pareja Family Foundation.
“This type of knowledge is generational, so we want to remove any potential barriers and make sure anyone who can benefit from this type of financial education can get it.”
Participants will learn about things like building credit, passive income, 401k plans, and budgeting to set the foundation for future investment strategies. The course also will include guidance from business owners, CEOs, and professionals in finance and real estate.
“We are very excited to partner with the Pareja Foundation to offer this course,” said Nelson Royo, program manager at Miami Dade College. “It can be beneficial for anyone at any age.”
The class will take place on Apr. 26, May 3, and May 10 from to 8 p.m. To register visit Miami Dade College’s Registration Link or to find out more information about the program visit www.parejafoundation.org.
