Patricia Vila Media has announced that agency principal Patricia Vila, a Brickell area resident, is the newest member of the Elderly Affairs Committee for the Town of Miami Lakes.
Vila brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to community service to the group.
“I am honored to join the Elderly Affairs Committee and look forward to contributing to the well-being of our senior citizens in Miami Lakes. I have dedicated myself to serving vulnerable populations throughout my career, and I am eager to bring my experience and passion to this important role,” Vila said about the opportunity.
The Elderly Affairs Committee was created to assist the town’s government with identifying the needs of Miami Lakes’ senior residents. The committee focuses on developing programs for the elderly. With the support of the Miami Lakes Town Council, the Elderly Affairs Committee sponsors educational forums, lunch socials, field trips, and a health and wellness fair.
Vila’s career is a testament to her dedication to social causes and community engagement.
Her six-year tenure at Chapman Partnership, where she spearheaded efforts to address homelessness in Miami-Dade County, was instrumental in the organization’s rebranding and awareness campaigns.
Her contributions, including fundraising, organizing community events, and creating awareness, have left a lasting impact. Vila’s frequent speaking engagements at Rotary Clubs and women’s events significantly raised awareness about homelessness.
Vila also has made significant contributions to the healthcare sector. She collaborated with World Central Kitchen to arrange food donations for healthcare heroes at five Tenet Health hospitals across Miami-Dade County during the COVID-19 pandemic. Her efforts extended to honoring the nursing teams through the Nurses Brava organization. Vila also played a crucial role in communicating vital information about COVID-19 and healthcare updates to the community.
Her fundraising efforts for Susan B. Komen for Breast Cancer and involvement with the South Florida Hispanic Chamber’s Healthcare Committee further highlight her dedication to healthcare advocacy.
Vila’s commitment to community service began at a young age. She has been volunteering since she was 14, serving as president of the Key Club in high school and being the youngest volunteer at Miami Children’s Hospital for two years. Her passion for social issues continued as she joined the Cuba Committee for the Red Cross, where she appeared weekly on TV to provide insights into the situation in Cuba.
Most recently, she has been a driving force in the Miami Initiative to Stop Amputations (MISA), creating awareness and advocating for change. Her efforts have taken her to Washington, DC, where she has met with officials to support the initiatives led by Dr. Pedro Martinez Clark.
