Spearmint Energy, a leading provider of sustainable energy solutions, has partnered with Pelican Harbor Seabird Station (PHSS), 1279 NE 79th Street Causeway, the preeminent native wildlife rehabilitation center in Miami. Through this collaboration, Spearmint Energy sponsored the construction of a state-of-the-art enclosure at PHSS, aimed at enhancing their capacity to care for injured and orphaned wildlife.
The wildlife hospital’s facilities include a fully operating clinic for emergency care and convalescence while specialized outdoor habitats provide shelter for patients before they are returned to the wild.
The newly sponsored enclosure is designed to provide a safe and stress-free environment for rehabilitating a variety of songbirds and other wildlife species native to the region.
Equipped with an advanced double door system and reinforced walls, this enclosure will significantly bolster PHSS’s efforts in rehabilitating and releasing injured wildlife back into their natural habitats.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony officially opened the new enclosure on July 17.
“At Spearmint Energy, we believe that the best way to catalyze positive change is through leading by example and this is what we do every day, both personally and professionally,” said Andrew Waranch, founder and CEO of Spearmint Energy. “For us, this means more than just leading the way in the transition to affordable clean energy, it means taking care of and being active citizens in the communities in which we live, work, and operate. Environmental stewardship is an important part of this.
“I am pleased that we can help support a local Miami-based organization that has become an internationally recognized center for wildlife rehabilitation,” Waranch added.
Pelican Harbor Seabird Station has been at the forefront of wildlife conservation for more than four decades, rescuing and rehabilitating thousands of injured birds and other wildlife annually. The addition of this newly sponsored enclosure will markedly increase their rehabilitation capabilities and continue their critical conservation work in the Miami area.
“PHSS has a unique role in Miami, as both the city’s premier native wildlife hospital and as a center for education on the importance of environmental conservation. The collaboration with Spearmint Energy is a natural fit and underscores the amplified effect of working together with a collaborative mission,” said Chloe Chelz, acting executive director. “The tangible gift of these wildlife enclosures created immediate improvements to our patients’ quality of care and we are deeply grateful for Spearmint Energy’s generosity and vision.”
The partnership between Spearmint Energy and Pelican Harbor Seabird Station exemplifies both organizations’ shared commitment to environmental sustainability and wildlife protection. Together, they aim to make a lasting positive impact on local ecosystems and inspire others to support conservation initiatives.
