Chapman Partnership will honor Peter T. Pruitt Jr. with the Alvah H. Chapman Jr. and Betty B. Chapman Humanitarian Award for his outstanding compassion for others and philanthropic commitment to our community at the annual Illuminations Gala on Saturday, Sept. 17, at the JW Marriott Marquis.

“We are excited to gather once again in person and honor a special person like Peter for his generosity and passion to ending homeless in Miami,” said Edward J. Joyce, chair of the board, Chapman Partnership. “Peter has been a champion of change and growth in South Florida and strives to keep Mr. Chapman’s legacy alive.”

Pruitt has been a long-time supporter of Chapman Partnership, serving as board member since 2011 and chair of the board from 2018 to 2021. Pruitt currently is serving as the organization’s interim president and CEO.

Pruitt retired from Deloitte & Touche LLP in 2019 after 41 years as an accomplished business executive and senior partner spanning numerous leadership roles and service on community-centered boards for United Way Miami, Orange Bowl Committee and Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce.

The prestigious Alvah H. Chapman Jr. and Betty B. Chapman Humanitarian Award recognizes individuals like Pruitt, whose service and humanity celebrate the legacy of empathy, humanity, and achievements demonstrated by its inspiring founder, Mr. Chapman, Jr. alongside his wife, Betty B. Chapman.

Pruitt joins an impressive roster of Alvah H. Chapman Jr. Humanitarian Award recipients, including Trish and Dan Bell, Sash A. Spencer, Betty B. Chapman, Carlos Fernandez-Guzman, Alberto Carvalho, Sherrill Hudson, and others. The award is presented annually at Chapman Partnership’s Illuminations Gala.

This year’s Illuminations Gala event co-chairs will be Heide and Jose “Pepe” Dans, and mistress of ceremonies will be Laurie Jennings. The black-tie gala will provide guests with an exciting evening, produced by WOW MKTG, honoring the donors and volunteers who have illuminated the path of more than 130,000 individuals experiencing homelessness.

Serving as the largest fundraiser for Chapman Partnership, the Illuminations Gala Illuminate & Blossom captures the essence of resiliency through challenging times. Funds raised provide life-changing wrap-around comprehensive programs and services that lead to self-sufficiency for our men, women, and children experiencing homelessness.
