Miami-Dade County’s PortMiami has been named “Best North American Homeport” by Cruise Critic. The seaport is receiving a 2023 Editors’ Picks Award for its commitment to excellence in servicing the global cruise industry and providing a world-class experience for passengers and cruise lines.

“This award is a testament to PortMiami’s unwavering dedication to innovation and customer service, solidifying its position as the ‘Cruise Capital of the World,’” said Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine-Cava. “I congratulate PortMiami director and CEO Hydi Webb and her team on keeping our seaport in the forefront of the cruise industry.”

PortMiami is a hub for international cruise travel that connects passengers to some of the most popular destinations in the Caribbean and beyond. With state-of-the-art cruise terminals and dedication to customer satisfaction, PortMiami is the industry leader in operational efficacy and passenger experience.

“The port is only as strong as its employees and partners,” Webb said. “Every employee is trained and tasked with making customer safety and satisfaction top priorities. I am extremely proud of the port team and the relationships we have built over the years with our stakeholders.”

PortMiami welcomed 7,299,294 passengers and set a new record-breaking year in cruise activity for Fiscal Year 2023. The Port experienced a 6.97 percent increase in cruise passenger totals compared to its previous record of 6,823,816 passengers in Fiscal Year 2019. On the cargo side, the port recorded 1,098,322 20-foot equivalent units (TEU), surpassing the one million TEU mark for its ninth consecutive fiscal year.
