The Miami-Dade County Office of the Property Appraiser currently is accepting 2023 property exemption benefits applications until Mar. 1.

Property Appraiser Pedro J. Garcia has mailed out the applications to residential property owners in Miami-Dade County. The documents mailed included courtesy Homestead Exemption applications for new homeowners, encouraging them to apply for their Homestead Exemption, as it may provide significant property tax savings. Mailing also included automatic renewal receipts for those property owners who currently have property tax benefits.

Property owners are encouraged to review their property tax exemption benefits in the automatic renewal receipts mailed to ensure they are receiving all the benefits they deserve. If a property owner no longer qualifies for the exemption(s), Florida law requires property owners to notify the Property Appraiser immediately.

If the property owner remains eligible in 2023, no further action is needed, but they are encouraged to keep the document for their records.

“The Homestead Exemption provides property owners with significant tax savings,” Garcia said. “I urge them to contact my office if they have any questions. My staff will be visiting several locations across Miami-Dade County where property owners may ask questions, as well as apply for their property tax benefits.”

Property owners who have questions or concerns about their exemption(s) status can visit the website at www.miamidade.gov/pa or in person at the offices in Downtown Miami, 111 NW First St., Suite 710, and South Dade Government Center, 10710 SW 211 St., second floor), Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

To better assist homeowners throughout Miami-Dade County, the office will host multiple weekend and evening outreach events around the county where homeowners will be able to file or cancel their exemption benefits. These events are optional to attend. If property owners have any questions, they are encouraged to call 305-375-4712.
