We enthusiastically endorse Alex Rizo for re-election as Florida State Representative for House District 112. As an experienced educator, successful business owner, and dedicated public servant, Rizo has demonstrated his commitment to the well-being of his constituents and the advancement of Florida’s future.
Born in New York City and a long-time resident of Hialeah, Rizo graduated from Hialeah High School in 1985. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from Florida International University in 1995 and a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University in 2000. His background as an educator is extensive, having worked as a teacher, receiving the “Beginning Teacher of the Year” award at Barbara Goleman High School in 1997, and later serving as an assistant principal at Hialeah Middle, Lawton Chiles Middle, and American High School. His deep roots in education have greatly influenced his political platform and dedication to the community.
Elected as a Republican member of the Florida House of Representatives in 2020, Rizo has served his district with integrity. He currently sits on the Health & Human Services Committee and the State Affairs Committee, where he addresses some of the most pressing issues facing Florida. Rizo’s experience also extends to business, having successfully owned and operated a business since 2006. He co-founded the Hialeah-Miami Lakes Republican Club and served as Vice Chair of the Miami-Dade County Community Council 5 in 2015, reflecting his active engagement in local politics and his dedication to public service.
A Clear Platform to Benefit District 112
Rizo’s platform emphasizes the need for educational reform. He advocates for a more streamlined Florida State Assessment system that is both student- and school-friendly. He is a strong proponent of school choice, seeking to empower parents and students with options. Additionally, Rizo supports reinstituting the District Cost Differential in student funding to provide more equitable resources for local schools and expanding workforce development and technical programs to better prepare students for the future.
For Florida’s elderly population, Rizo aims to enhance the quality of life by reducing healthcare costs through free-market principles, cutting excess regulations, and creating health savings plan options.
On economic issues, Rizo fights against tax and hidden fee increases. He believes that improving the education system will attract more businesses to Florida, ensuring that the state remains competitive in an increasingly technical world.
Rizo’s dedication to District 112, his proven experience, and his commitment to education, the economy, and the well-being of seniors make him the clear choice for re-election. His proactive, common-sense approach to addressing the needs of Floridians ensures a brighter future for the community he serves.
We strongly encourage voters in District 112 to support Alex Rizo for a continued, effective voice in Tallahassee.
