Miami developers MV Real Estate Holdings (MVREH) and Driftwood Capital, in conjunction with Merrimac Ventures, have announced the official groundbreaking of Riverside Wharf, a $350 million hotel and hospitality-driven entertainment complex that promises to usher in a new era for the Miami River District.

With state-of-the-art amenities and modern design, the two-tower development will rise as a distinctive and transformative destination, adding an unparalleled experience to Miami’s thriving nightlife scene. Moss Construction is the general contractor for Riverside Wharf, with completion slated for Fall 2028.

“It is incredibly rewarding for all partners involved in creating this development along the Miami River within the city of Miami and to officially break ground and bring Riverside Wharf to life,” said Alex Mantecon, managing partner of MVREH and co-founder of Breakwater Hospitality Group.

“This massive hotel and entertainment complex will transform the Miami River District into one of the most sought-after destinations in South Florida. We are confident it will set the ultimate standard for what local residents and visitors alike should expect from waterfront experiences, food and beverage, and entertainment for years to come,” Mantecon added.

Designed by Jon Cardello of CUBE 3 Architects, with Gensler Architects completing the construction documents and interiors designed by ICRAVE, the nine-story, 200,000-plus-square-foot Riverside Wharf will rise as a defining development for Miami’s Downtown core. It will serve as an all-encompassing destination for world-class entertainment, exceptional dining, and renowned hotel accommodations.

The project will boast a 30,000-square-foot nightclub and Vegas-style rooftop pool day club, a high-energy 12,000-square-foot event hall, various dining options and 16,000 square feet of signature restaurants, as well as the rebirth and expansion of The Wharf Miami. The hotel component features a 167-key Dream Miami luxury hotel, delivering lush accommodations for all who travel to experience this one-of-a-kind entertainment landmark.

“Riverside Wharf’s groundbreaking marks a pivotal turning point for the future of the Miami River District, once more solidifying Miami’s standing as a global destination,” said Miami Mayor Francis Suarez. “Its positive economic impact and caliber of exciting new experiences will be second to none. I look forward to its impressive rise and long-standing contribution to the city.”

Dedicated to improving the neighborhood and giving back to the community, the developers of Riverside Wharf will construct a new public riverwalk along the development site, as well as a state-of-the-art sea-level-rise mitigation initiative that includes building a new seawall. The project also will pay homage to the neighborhood’s historic fishing culture by providing a pop-up Garcia’s Fish Market on the grounds, where locals can get the freshest catch daily.

“With Miami continuing to exceed expectations and attract talent, wealth, and world-class hospitality, Riverside Wharf will serve as an all-encompassing experiential landmark for all who pass through the city,” said Carlos Rodriguez Jr., COO of Driftwood Capital. “We are proud to contribute to this unique development and further the Miami River District’s evolution through an outstanding assortment of culinary, hospitality, and operational expertise.”

The Miami River District is poised for a renaissance with Riverside Wharf and other mixed-use and residential developments on the horizon that will catalyze economic growth in the neighborhood. For more information, visit www.riversidewharf.com.
