Sold out January 25, 2026 event will feature 18,500 runners from all 50 states and around the world, showcasing how fitness and wellness unite people through shared experiences
Across all corners of South Florida, and throughout the world, the explosion of run clubs is fueling incredible growth in the running industry and has had a big impact on the 2026 Life Time Miami Marathon & Half presented by FP Movement selling out for the fifth consecutive year.
Ninety-three run clubs have registered with the race and are feeding participants into the field of 18,500 runners who will navigate the streets of Miami on January 25. The Brickell Run Club, the largest, will have a final shakeout run before the race on Tuesday night January 20 at 7 p.m. at 1300 Brickell Avenue that is expected to attract as many as 1,000 runners.
“The proliferation of run clubs in Miami is in line with the rest of the world,” said Frankie Ruiz, the co-founder of the Life Time Miami Marathon & Half and Life Time’s Chief Running Officer. “I lead a run club coalition made up of South Florida area run club leaders and our group now has over 60 clubs represented. Just five years ago I only personally knew of four or five bona fide clubs.”
Run clubs promote wellness and camaraderie and are continuing to become a focal point in the day-to-day lives of people looking to marry fitness with social interaction. Clubs that once counted a handful of members per session are now hosting hundreds of participants.
The social element of run clubs, which are inclusive of beginners and elite athletes, seems to be as big of a draw as the training and fitness benefits of running. Run clubs provide structured group motivation with their set schedules and peers pushing each other toward a visible goal that creates momentum in their training. South Florida’s climate, waterfront access, and growing health-and-wellness culture are all aligning for this boom.
“Just as run clubs create spaces for accountability and connection, Life Time’s athletic country clubs nationwide offer similar opportunities for people to pursue these goals year-round,” Ruiz said. “From group training and social events to wellness programming, Life Time shares the same philosophy that fitness is more than a workout – it’s about community.”
The popularity of run clubs in Miami, and across the United States are part of the reason demand for the Life Time Miami Marathon continues to surge. It becomes one of the key moments on an annual basis that brings all the groups together on a common start and finish line.
