School board awards construction contract for a GOB project valued at $7 million at Frederick Douglass Elementary

During a recent regular monthly meeting, the Miami-Dade School Board awarded a construction contract to complete a General Obligation Bond (GOB) project at Frederick Douglass Elementary School valued at approximately $4,915,049.86.

 

Veitia Padron Inc. (VPI) was contracted to complete an eight-classroom building addition project. Located in Miami’s Historic Overtown, the original Douglass Elementary was built in 1953 and replaced in 2017 with a new facility. The school currently comprises one building with 276 student stations.

 

The scope of work for this project includes an eight-classroom addition, new covered walkways, a covered physical education shelter, a restriped basketball court, a primary playing area, and extra parking spaces.

 

Total sub-consultant Small/Micro Business Enterprise (S/MBE) participation: 10.37 percent
Total sub-consultant Minority/Women Business Enterprise (M/WBE) participation: 23.65 percent
Total project allocation – $7,039,166.08
Completion – December 2024
