Miami-Dade School Board chair and District 6 representative Mari Tere Rojas, hosted her third Town Hall Meeting for the 2025-26 school year on Monday, Jan. 26, at MAST Academy. The event brought together students, families, faculty, staff, administrators, and elected officials from both MAST Academy and Key Biscayne K-8 Center.

The evening began at 5:30 p.m. with school exhibitions highlighting student work and school initiatives, followed by a Town Hall Meeting at 6 p.m. that brought together families, educators, administrators, and community leaders for an informative and engaging program centered on student success.

During the exhibition, students engaged attendees with beautifully detailed live art painting while also demonstrating their innovation and problem-solving skills through robotics projects. These interactive displays reflected the district’s commitment to fostering creativity, critical thinking, and hands-on learning across both the arts and STEM.

Students were recognized throughout the evening for a wide range of achievements, including academic excellence, significant improvement, and perfect attendance. Additional recognition highlighted students in the visual and performing arts, showcasing the diverse talents and strengths of learners across the district.

During the presentation, a key focus was placed on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its expanding role in education. Parents gained insight into how AI is being integrated to support instruction, personalize learning, and prepare students for future careers, while emphasizing the importance of responsible, ethical, and safe use of technology at school and at home.

Rojas, joined by district and regional staff, shared important updates and facilitated meaningful dialogue with parents, students, and community stakeholders. The discussion reinforced the district’s collective commitment to providing a well-rounded, enriching, and safe educational experience for every student.

“This evening highlighted the incredible accomplishments of our students while reinforcing the importance of strong collaboration between schools and families,” Rojas said. “By working together, we are helping students develop the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in an ever-changing world.”

Sincere appreciation is extended to the Village of Key Biscayne, Mayor Joe Rasco, and Vice Mayor Oscar Sardinas for participating in the event and for their ongoing support of students, families, and schools. Rojas also expressed gratitude to the dedicated parents, teachers, administrators, Miami-Dade Schools Police Department, and elected officials whose commitment and involvement contributed to the event’s success.
