Press Release from the Office of School Board Member Luisa Santos, District 9
At the School Board Meeting of February 11, 2026, School Board Member Luisa Santos proffered agenda item B-4, recognizing Michael Baiamonte, the voice of the Miami Heat.
Michael Baiamonte began his career as the iconic Public Address (PA) Announcer for the Miami HEAT in 1990. His remarkable 35-season tenure ranks him as the second-longest serving PA Announcer in NBA history, establishing him as a defining voice in South Florida’s sports and entertainment landscape.
Beyond his celebrated professional career as the “Voice of Miami,” Mr. Baiamonte has generously shared his time, talent, and leadership to uplift students, honor educators, and strengthen the culture of excellence that defines Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS). He has contributed to the success and well-being of students across the county by supporting school initiatives and enhancing our students’ and staff’s experiences. His invaluable civic service includes serving as Master of Ceremonies for M-DCPS events, such as a Teacher of the Year celebration, where he honored the achievements of outstanding educators and inspired our entire school community.
Mr. Baiamonte has further strengthened community engagement by lending his signature voice to important educational and family-focused events, such as A Night in District 9, creating uplifting and memorable experiences for students, staff, and the broader school community.
As he concludes his illustrious career at the end of the 2025–2026 season and prepares to retire with the Miami HEAT, Mr. Baiamonte leaves behind a legacy marked by professionalism, generosity, and an abiding devotion to the youth and families of Miami-Dade County. His impact will resonate throughout our classrooms, auditoriums, and community events, reminding future generations of the power of service, voice, and civic pride.
The School Board of Miami-Dade County, Florida, presents this resolution to Michael Baiamonte in admiration of his extraordinary career, with gratitude for his generous contributions to public education and steadfast support of our students and schools. We honor him as a community champion, the definitive “Voice of Miami,” and extend our warmest wishes to Mr. Baiamonte, his wife Natalie, their daughters, and extended family as he embarks on the next chapter of his life.
