The Emmy and Gold Medal Award-winning South Florida Youth Symphony, one of the nation’s leading youth music organizations, is accepting applications for its annual Summer Music Academy, June 17-July 12, at the Pawley Creative Arts Center on the Miami Dade College North Campus, 11380 NW 27 Ave.
“The Summer Music Academy is designed for young beginners through advanced players (which includes kids 4 to 18 years old),” said Marjorie Hahn, SFYS executive and music director. “With our staff of world class educational and music professionals, the Summer Music Academy is the perfect place for kids and teens to begin — or expand — their musical talents.”
The camp runs 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and mornings only, 8:30-11:30 a.m., for violin or cello training for youth ages 4-7.
Tuition for the four-week camp (for ages 8-18) is $950 and $900 for siblings of families with more than one attendee. The morning session four-week tuition for all campers age 4-7 years-old is $500. A non-refundable deposit of $100 is required. Full and partial scholarships, and instruments are available for Special Needs youth and those with economic issues.
The SFYS program is sponsored with the support of Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs SAS-C grants, Miami-Dade County Mayor and Board of County Commissioners, Cultural Arts Council, The Children’s Trust, Batchelor Foundation, Nancy Friday Foundation and Miami Dade College North Campus.
