The Office of Community Advocacy, a division charged with making Miami-Dade County “One Community” that embraces our diverse and unique population, supported Shake-A-Leg Miami’s “Yoga and Day on the Water” event offered by Rise and SoulShine. Close to 50 yoga participants came together on July 21 to raise money for Shake a Leg Miami, many of them went kayaking and paddle boarding after the yoga class.
“We partnered with Rise and SoulShine to inspire people to use the water’s therapeutic power, and to bring attention to our center where the barrier-free environment can be transformational for the disabled community that live in #OurCounty,” said Shake-A-Leg Miami’s President Harry Horgan. “We are thankful to all the wonderful people that joined us, the food vendors that participated, and to the organizations that made raffle donations.”
Shake-A-Leg Miami Watersports Center, a 501(c) (3) organization, is a unique place where children and adults, many of whom are not only people living with a disability, but also financially disadvantaged, are able to improve their social skills, make new friendships, and increase their self-confidence through targeted programs.
