The award will be presented at Illuminations Gala on Oct. 26
At this year’s Illuminations Gala, Chapman Partnership will honor former TECO Energy’s Executive Chairman of the Board, Sherrill W. Hudson, with the Alvah H. Chapman, Jr. Humanitarian Award for his outstanding compassion for others and philanthropic commitment to our community.
“Sherill Hudson is a passionate leader who has championed Chapman Partnership’s mission of empowering the homeless for eight years, as well as helped advance the work of numerous noble causes in the community,” said Symeria T. Hudson, CEO of Chapman Partnership. “His generosity and commitment to service is an inspiration to us all and continues to strengthen Mr. Chapman’s legacy and vision for the community.”
Known for his community service, Hudson has generously contributed to the advancement of Chapman Partnership’s mission by giving of his time, talents, and treasure since 2011. He is also a member of The Florida Council of 100 and chaired the 2007 United Way Tampa Bay Campaign, as well as the Council of Governors of the Tampa Bay Partnership.
In addition to serving the community, Hudson was Executive Chairman of the TECO Energy board of directors for nearly a decade, after serving as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer for six years. Hudson retired from Deloitte & Touche LLP in 2002 after 37 years of service and spent 19 years in Miami as Managing Partner for its South Florida offices.
The prestigious Alvah H. Chapman, Jr. Humanitarian Award recognizes individuals like Hudson, whose service and humanity celebrate the legacy of empathy, humanity, and achievements demonstrated by its inspiring founder, Mr. Chapman, Jr. Hudson joins an impressive roster of Alvah H. Chapman, Jr. Humanitarian Award recipients, including Sash A. Spencer, Betty, B. Chapman, Carlos Fernandez-Guzman, Alberto Carvalho, and others. The award is presented annually at Chapman Partnership’s Illuminations Gala.
The 2019 Illuminations Gala will be held Saturday, October 26, 2019, at the JW Marriott Marquis. The event will provide guests with an exciting evening, produced by WOW MKTG, honoring the people whose support helps further Chapman Partnership’s mission every day.
The special evening will continue with the official Illuminations Gala After Party, hosted by Chapman Partnership’s young professional’s group, nextgen. From 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., nextgen members and guests will enjoy food, live music, an open bar, and complimentary valet.
