Silver Bluff Elementary School’s students and faculty celebrated National Education Association’s Read Across America initiative which marked 19 years of celebrating reading and the 113th birthday of Dr. Seuss.
Students were honored during this celebration as they enjoyed a read-a-loud of Green Eggs and Ham, in both English and Spanish, by two very special guest storytellers — City of Miami Commissioner Francis Suarez and our Miami-Dade School Board member Mari Tere Rojas.
After story time, the visitors had a tasty treat with the students provided by Ms. Bello, first grade teacher. The activity gave them the opportunity to use mathematics as they measured the ingredients and prepared a yummy breakfast of green eggs and ham.
