Generally, individuals may have no more than $2,000 in resources, and couples no more than $3,000, though a primary home and one vehicle are usually not counted toward this limit. Finally, applicants must be U.S. citizens or meet specific immigration status requirements. Certain permanent residents, refugees, and other eligible noncitizens may qualify.
